underway in the National Park Service. The Gathering is held during the week of August 25, the founding anniversary of the
National Park Service (1916) and Grant-Kohrs Ranch NHS (1972). This year the Gathering is schedule for August 22, 23,
24, 25, (Tuesday through Friday). The concept was proposed and pursued in 1998 by this site’s first artist-in-residence,
watercolorist Bob Barkell, who works closely with the site’s chief of interpretation to make it happen. The Gathering is an
invitational event attracting the finest established and up-and-coming fine arts professionals. Its purpose is four-fold:
Grant-Kohrs Ranch;
artwork produced by Gathering Artists.
to invite at least 15 additional artists from around the country. Would you like to apply to be one of those artists invited to
