I think that begs the question of what is feminist art? Its a touch question for my because my work is decidedly non-figurative. I have at times drawn strongly on weaving and Penelope as metaphores but now I am much looser in that area.
I'm not sure I even think of my work as feminist anymore but I certainly don't think the opposite. I am interested in exploring this idea by email.
I think of feminism as affecting the conections between thing - between me and that tree or how we relate to our homes or our idea of home. I think art has an important part to play in those relationships and how they are viewed/constructed. Our relation ship to art is key to this also. And the art to the wall. Ladedadeda ..here I go.
What do you think?
: Would like to hear from artists who identify as feminist and whose art has feminist content. I'm interested in mutual support, creating a feminist art presence in Seattle or joining an existing coalition.
