I recently entered the Pacific Northwest Annual juried competition, paying my $25 for one slide. My painting wasn't selected--no big deal--and I didn't think too much about it until I received the lastest mailing from the Bellevue Art Museum. In the publication it stated that the juror selected works for the exhibit from hundreds of entries and that he selected what he thought was the best representation of abstract art in the northwest. Okay. However, I don't remember anywhere in the prospectus that it stated that this was going to be an abstract show. If that is the case, then BAM misrepresented the show and ripped off the rest of us who don't do abstract art in charging an entrance fee for work that wouldn't possibly be included. Does anyone else have a problem with this?
